I ALWAYS practice like this. ????

Instead of just playing the drums without a goal and calling it practice...

Try CREATING something very SPECIFIC every time!

✅ First I choose a theme for what I'm going to practice.

For example - "Today I'll try to come up with a tom fill with lots of ghost notes on the snare". ????

✅ Then I start messing around on the drums, making sure to STAY WITHIN THAT THEME!

Basically throwing notes at the wall and seeing what sounds good. ????‍♂️

✅ When something sounds good, BUILD ON IT!

Take it further. Add more notes. Move it around the kit. Change the sticking, timing or speed. See how many new things you can milk out of it. ????

✅ Then finally - FILM IT!

Even if you are not going to post it anywhere, filming your "creations" is a great way to document your progress and to assess your own playing. ????

... And then the next day, repeat the process again with a new theme / idea. ????

I GUARANTEE you will see a lot of improvement by doing this, ESPECIALLY if you're feeling stuck or your vocabulary is lacking. ????
