This is a reply to @felixpfeiffer9863 ... who correctly pointed out that my original Mozambique video was missing a DOT in the initial notation on the kick drum. Now with the internet, there are a ton of people who love to run into the comments and talk about "right vs wrong." 99% of those perspectives are subjective.
The one thing in MUSIC that is NOT subjective is rhythmic value. Rhythms are math. Missing that dot on the first 8th note in this context is WRONG... plain and simple. In fact, check out the related video I attached at the end of this one at 2:19...
Great eyes on catching this mistake and letting me know, Felix. Thank you... props to you... and here is a corrected version. ????????
Here’s the #afrocuban rhythm #mozambique adapted for the #drumset
…originally a #conga rhythm made popular by Pello el Afrokan in #cuba & later popularized in NYC by Eddie Palmieri…
Where most Afrocuban rhythms can be performed in 2:3 or 3:2… This groove is one of the only Cuban rhythms that I only hear in a 2:3 #clave …
If you want to get better at the #drums check out my Study The Drum app... Take a 10-minute video tour of all the courses here:
