When inquiries arise regarding my distinctive interpretation of Mozart, I attribute my approach to a fundamentally different starting point than that of my peers. Specifically, Mozart's primary instruments were the harpsichord and early piano, vastly differing from modern pianos in terms of sonority, sound balance and technical requirements. My technique stems from these historical instruments. Mozart's prowess as an improviser also informs my approach, having extensively studied improvisation myself. Furthermore, I contest the prevalent reliance on metronomic practice, not due to its utility, but its misguided application. This method prioritizes mathematical duration over musicality and sound quality, effectively dissociating notes from their contextual meaning. This reductionism parallels focusing solely on word pronunciation while neglecting semantic significance.
In 2025, I will be hosting several performances and masterclasses on interpretation and understanding Mozart music across various Asian countries. As I am based in Thailand, I have easy access to many nearby locations. I invite you to consider hosting one of my masterclasses at your music school or private studio—it would be an ideal setting.
Alongside individual classes about Mozart music repertoire, I will hold group classes focusing on classical improvisation and composition, two fundamental tools to access Mozart music.
