How long do you think it takes to master an art medium?
I would argue that while experience does play a role, it's more about:
- Understanding the medium
- Having a vision

These things can be acquired almost instantly, which is why "mastery" of a medium isn't as relevant.
It is not about mastering the medium, but rather about mastering YOURSELF.
