How I Set Up My Acrylic Palette (Save Time Mixing!)

A simple palette setup saves you so much time when you paint.
Here’s how I arrange my colors so mixing becomes second nature.

Setting up your palette the same way every time removes the guesswork so you can focus on painting — not searching for colors. In this video, I show you exactly how I arrange my acrylic paints from left to right, and why this simple layout helps me mix faster and paint more freely.

I always group my colors in the same order:
• Yellows on the far left
• Then reds, magentas followed with Burnt Sienna and Burnt Umber
• Blues next (phthalo + ultramarine)
• White and black on the right side

Keeping this consistent means I always know where to reach, even when I’m in the flow of painting. It becomes automatic — and it saves so much time and frustration.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced painter building confidence with color, a clean and predictable palette layout makes everything easier.
