???? I tried a happier tune “Moonglow” today at Dena’s jazz vocal master class at Stanford. Practiced many newly learned skills that were super helpful for future jamming and performances, such as
1️⃣ How to “talk down”, or verbally communicate the song’s structure, tempo, key to the band.
2️⃣ How to “trade”, or do the call-and-response improvisations with instrumentalists.
3️⃣ How to use non-verbal gesture to signal to the band to hold, repeat, loop, or stop.
The joyful feelings embedded in this song were contagious and we saw smiles not only from band members but also all the classmates.
I hope you enjoy it ❤️
