Helvi Hyvärinen
(26 September 1906–19 January 1988)
Helvi Hyvärinen was born in Kajaani. Her parents were teachers who wanted their daughter to have a good education and a profession. Helvi studied German, literature and art history at the University of Helsinki.
At the end of the 1920s, Hyvärinen fell seriously ill and decided to become an artist. She completed art studies in Helsinki in the early 1930s and premiered her first exhibition in 1946.
