In this public masterclass, acclaimed cello soloist @yoyoma works with NWS alum Alexa Ciciretti on the first movement of Haydn's Cello Concerto No. 2 in D major, Hob.VIIb:2. (With NWS piano alum John Wilson accompanying.)

After a performance of the movement by Ciciretti, Ma dives into the topic of differentiation by creating a memorable opening to contrast with the recapitulation. Additional topics include developing patience to sustain the buoyancy of solo and the importance of having clear objectives for your interpretation.
