Ever wondered why Derpy the Tiger has leopard spots?

The mountains of the Korean peninsula were home to both Siberian tigers and Amur leopards, two fierce, dangerous predators. With so many of them around, people often came across these wild animals near villages or on mountain paths. In those heart-pounding, life-or-death moments, it was hard to remember if the animal they saw had stripes or spots.

Folk painters, who relied on these eyewitness stories, sometimes had trouble figuring it out. So, they mixed both features together in their artwork.
