Did you know you can carve and polish epoxy resin? As soon as I demolded my interactive Depeche Mode nostalgic music sculpture I knew I needed to cut it into a tomb stone shape. Cassette tapes are a pretty dead media but the music needs to live which is why I embedded a Spotify code in the piece. When you scan the code- the album Violator will pop up as a playlist revealing the music trapped in the resin. But I honestly didn’t know what I was getting into when I started carving this piece and there are two things I need to IMMEDIATELY buy. The dremel is an amazing tool but I am literally RUNNING to buy a jigsaw because this took HOURS. The other thing I need- coveralls. Look at this MESSSSSS! It was like a snowstorm in September. I was COVERED. My clothes. My hair. My skin. It was gross. I’m lucky that I have a small outdoor space to work on but I need something I can strip off easily without flashing the window washers. As soon as those coveralls enter my life I’ll be able to polish this piece into a crystal clear piece of music history.
