Canadian Artist Creates Blessed Virgin Statue As Gift to Indigenous People | EWTN News Nightly

An artist in Canada created a statue of the Blessed Virgin as a gift to the country's indigenous people. It also drew the attention of Pope Francis. Mary Untier of Knots was created by artist Timothy Schmalz. He meant it as a symbol of human difficulties and how the Blessed Virgin can help us undo or overcome every problem. The depiction was blessed by Pope Francis during his recently completed visit to the North American country. The artist Timothy Schmalz joins to tell us more about this sculpture and why the Holy Father wanted to bless it. He recently said, "The sculpture shows our Lady focused on untying the knots of the world. Just like Pope Francis, who is traveling the world to untie the knots of history."
