Dharmendra, one of Indian cinema’s most iconic actors, passed away in Mumbai at the age of 89. He had been in fragile health and spent his final days at home with family. Born in 1935 in Ludhiana, he rose to fame after winning a Filmfare talent contest and went on to star in major films including "Phool Aur Patthar," "Sholay," "Yaadon Ki Baaraat" and "Dream Girl." He served as a Member of Parliament from 2004 to 2009. His final film, "Ikkis," releases this December. Tributes were led by President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and actors across the film industry.
