0:00 Isolated Bass
2:40 Full Band
This might be the greatest McCartney bassline. I literally transcribed Paul's playing note-for-note on this one. Just an insanely good part. Not sure what he was taking to make his mind this creative, but man, I dig the results.
For the sound, this is the rare time I unmuted my Rickenbacker bass. Paul's punchy tone on most late-era Beatles tracks is partially due to activating the mutes ("With a Little Help," "You Won't See Me," and basically everything from Rubber Soul through Pepper), but the unmuted sound comes out here and there ("Taxman," the "And Your Bird" anthology outtake"). Very different but amazing sound.
I used a Boss Compressor pedal through an Ampeg BA-112 amp. Enjoy!
