Artists protest against government
Anti-government protests demanding solutions to the current economic crisis continued in Sri Lanka for another day, Monday across the island even after the entire cabinet of ministers resigned yesterday and the beleaguered President Gotabaya Rajapaksa invited all political parties to join him to find solutions to the crisis.
The people are gathering at Diyatha as the parliament is putting on the regular shit Show for us..

A group of artistes staged an anti-government protest at Diyatha Uyana in Battaramulla calling on the President and government to step down. A large number of protests staged by the people are being reported from across the island. The protests are staged against the Government and the current crises. According to the News 1st Correspondents, people from several professions and civil organizations have joined the protests covering all parts of the country.
people are gathering to protest at Diyatha... As independent activists can you organise workshops here to educate these crows while the protests are happening... To discuss the problem and possible solutions.. bring in people who understand this to talk to the people... Get them engaged.. while some are actively protesting many are just sitting around... It would be wonderful if someone can organise workshops like this to get them involved in the discussion.. conduct polls.. find policies that people would agree to to go forward from here... Just a though.. this is what I seriously find lacking in these protests. A group of residents from Colombo 07 staged a protest opposite the Nelum Pokuna Theatre in Colombo on Monday (4) morning. The residents in Homagama staged a protest in the Town as well.

Hundreds of people have gathered in the Sri Lankan capital, Colombo, to protest against rising living costs and the government's failure to control them. Public protests demanding the stepping down of the President and the government continue to grow and a number of protest have been organised in various parties of the country today (04) as well. Meanwhile, a group of Sri Lankan artists have also staged a peaceful protest near the Diyatha Uyana park.
Masses held protests in front of the houses of several former ministers today. A group of protesters in Kalutara also came in front of the Kalutara Public Meeting Office of former Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena. The police used tear gas to disperse them.
Police also launched tear gas to disperse the protest in front of Prime Minister’s residence Carlton House in Tangalle. While a group of protesters in Tangalle was approaching the Carlton House, the police used roadblocks to prevent the protest reaching the Carlton House blocking the Colombo - Kataragama main road. The police used tear gas to disperse the crowd as they tried to reach Carlton house by breaking the roadblocks.
Police used tear gas to disperse a large group of people demonstrating in front of the former Energy Minister Gamini Lokuge’s house. The rioters had set fire to a large advertisement in front of Mr. Lokuge's house and later pelted stones at the house. At that moment, tear gas was used to disperse the crowd.
