Known for painting sensuous women, his letters complain he could not find beautiful ladies willing to pose nude, no matter the pay. He was forced into working at court for the #Medici , stifling his creativity and freedom according to a poem by his close friend. Even his own art was embattled, wavering between depicting women sensually or as stiff statues. Always spending more than he made, the artist joined the priesthood to escape his life and #paint freely.
