χθιζὸς ἐεικοστῷ φύγον ἤματι οἴνοπα πόντον
On the twentieth day, I escaped from the wine-dark sea.
— Odysseus (Homer, Odyssey, 6.170)
In Greek mythology, the sea is a goddess of many faces. An enemy of humankind when rough and gentler than the dry land when she is calm, Homer's description is epic, painting her wine-dark.
This is an original composition inspired by Homer's verses. It is performed by Theodore Koumartzis on a LUTHEROS Lyre of Olympus, Eljona Eleni Sinjari on piano & vocals, and Manolis Koutsounanos on drums.
Theodore's ancient lyre was masterfully handcrafted with love in Greece by the Koumartzis family.
