Tackling Richard Wagner's Tristan & Isolde is an ordeal for any opera director. In order to transpose the flood of monologues and dialogues in this timeless work into lasting images, La Monnaie called upon two ambitious visual artists. On the one hand, director and filmmaker Ralf Pleger, who knows the German composer very well. On the other hand, the sculptor and set designer Alexander Polzin.
