Italian painter Amedeo Bocchi was born to a father who was an artist. At the age of 12, Bocchi was enrolled in the Royal Institute of Fine Arts of Parma. He graduated at the age of 18 and moved to Rome. The same year he got married, but the marriage ended tragically after his wife died just in one year after giving a birth to their only daughter Bianca. Bianca became a frequent object of his paintings. One of the paintings Portrait of Bianca was awarded a first prize at the Exhibition of Monza, and Bocchi was named an Academic of the Accademia di San Luca in Rome. In 1919 Bocchi remarried a model for his paintings, but she died four years later. In 1934 another tragedy happened; his daughter Bianca died. The mournful events strongly affected him, and Bocchi withdrew himself from the world. He, however, wasn’t withdrawn from art, and paintings became his only reason for living. He died painting.
