To celebrate International Womens Day, I went to our local Art museum in Caen, Normandy for a guided tour of the history of female portrait painters, and the women featured in the portraits.
I found it very interesting and I wrote down the best bits to share it with you!

It's facinating to take a closer look at the women featured in some famous, historical portraits. I learned that we can tell quite a lot about the subject just by understanding how to interpret certain clues used by the artist.

The few portraits actually painted by women in our art museum were mindblowingly beautiful, and when I learned about the women who painted them I was even more impressed. Thank goodness for women like these in our history!
