The Rhythm Changes is one of the most important chord progressions in all of Jazz. It's just as important as the Jazz Blues form, as it forms the basis of countless Jazz Standards that are played on gigs and jam sessions on a daily basis. Further, Rhythm Changes tunes are often called at very fast tempos - often well in excess of 200 BPM - so it's imperative that we as bass players have a collection of pre-memorized lines under our belts that we can whip out at a moment's notice. I refer to lines like this as "Life Savers" - well-constructed walking bass phrases that are not only functional, but melodic and sound impressive. No matter how experienced you are, when playing at 220 you don't have time to think, which is why these lines are so important!
Switch off your brain with these amazing lines and improve your musical memory! Follow the TABs and my recommended fingerings for the most optimal execution of these lines and build them up to high speeds. Practice them with your band, on jam sessions and play them in your next gig.
