The LGV Méditerranée, new line 5 (LN5), is a French high-speed, standard gauge, double-track railway line with a length of 250 km, which extends the LGV Rhône-Alpes from Saint-Marcel-lès-Valence to Marseille, on the one hand, and Nîmes, on the other. It connects Lyon and the north of France to the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and Occitanie regions.

The cost of the investment amounts to 3.8 billion euros. By putting Marseille three hours from Paris (for a distance of 750 km) and Nîmes two hours fifty-two minutes, the commissioning of this line reverses the respective market shares of the plane and the train, the latter ensuring now two-thirds of trips.

It constitutes respectively the third and first sections of lines nos. 752 000 and 834 000 of the national rail network, under the denominations "line from Combs-la-Ville to Saint-Louis (LGV)", this one also being made up of the LGV Sud -Est and LGV Rhône-Alpes, and “line from Angles to Lattes (LGV)”, this one also being made up of the rail bypass of Nîmes and Montpellier; Added to this is the "Great-South branch connection of the Triangle des Angles (LGV)".. ⬇️
