Twenty-one senior artistes, including Pandit Birju Maharaj and Guru Jayarama Rao, have been asked to vacate their government allotted homes in Delhi by 31 December 2020 amid a prevailing pandemic. Deeming the decision taken by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs ‘saddening’ and ‘humiliating’, they hope the move to evict is rethought.
